- Meeting convened at 1:30 PM
- Approved ½ page ad for NYC Center Labor Council Annual Awards, cost $500.00.
- Approved two tables and gold page ad for Workers Defense League’s 72nd Annual dinner honoring IBEW President, Edwin D. Hill, cost $4800.00.
- Approved six (6) tickets and black & white full page ad for Actors Fund 2008 Gala, cost $8500.00.
- Approved fruit basket and gift certificate from Borders for Terry Leitz, Local 1212 webmaster, who is ill.
- Board member, Ben Link, liaisoned between retired IBEW veteran and the Veteran’s Administration to bring much needed resources to our IBEW brother.
- Board member, Vinnie Butler, reported on B.U.R.S.T., look on website for dates.
- The reports concerning new members, withdrawal cards and vacation changes were accepted as read.
- The Treasurer's report was read and discussed.
Business Manager's Report
CBS:
- Met with management members of cooperative committee to address sub-clip issue, waiting for response.
- Met with members from various divisions along with CBS Benefits management to discuss Company buy out offer.
- Met with management to discuss various issues pertaining to TX operations.
WCBS:
- Met with management to discuss various issues.
- Station offered buy out package.
WLIW:
- Met with shop to discuss final package.
- Contract ratified.
WXTV:
- Grievance meeting held on upcoming arbitration.
- Discussions held on placement of router.
- Discussions held on Engineers medical leave.
WXTV Producers:
- Negotiations continue.
WFAN:
- Meeting to be rescheduled later this month.
FOX Sports:
- President Hill has named Business Manager, Keith Morris, spokesperson and lead negotiator in upcoming negotiations set to begin first week of June.
HBO:
- Quarterly meeting held.
PVI:
- Site visit for demonstration of player tracking system.
WPIX:
- Discussions continue on company drug testing policy and on shared jurisdiction.
VSG/United Nations:
- Site visit to discuss upcoming negotiations and get active email system.
WNJU Telemundo:
- National Labor Relations Board found in favor of Local 1212 on both unfair labor practice charges against Company regarding the Weingarten rights violation of a member and the H.R. director not allowing representative Jesus Sanchez to be on premises.
- Held first grievance meeting since labor charges were won, member’s 45 day suspension was rescinded and withdrawn from file.
- Discussed possible buy out for member that might help bring back someone else on layoff.
OFFICE:
- Met with CWA/NABET representatives to discuss issues of mutual interest.
- Attended LI Federation of Labor dinner.
- Jesus Sanchez working with Marc Aisen of IBEW member services on organizing several targets.
- Jesus Sanchez assigned to be Local’s registrar to help with voter registration and other political activies.
- Business Manager, Keith Morris, represented International President Edwin D. Hill at the annual awards dinner for the National Center on Alcohol and Substance Abuse at Columbia University honoring AFL-CIO President John Sweeney.
