The following is a memo to all members of Local 1212 regarding the upcoming increase in the rate of our per capita effective January 1, 2012.
SUBJECT: IBEW per Capita Increase Effective January 1, 2012
FROM: Ralph Avigliano, Business Manager/Financial Secretary
TO: All Members of Local 1212
DATE: November 1, 2011
This memo is to advise you that the per capita rate will increase $2.00 per month as of January 1, 2012. This increase was approved by the delegates of the 38th IBEW International Convention held in September of 2011.
The per capita is that portion of your dues that the Union sends directly to the IBEW in Washington, D.C.
The per capita for “BA” members goes into the General Fund of the IBEW.
The per capita for “A” members is split between the General Fund of the IBEW and the Pension Fund.
Currently the rate is $13.00 per month or $39.00 per quarter for “BA” members. This rate will increase to $15.00 per month or $45.00 per quarter . The rate for “A” members is currently $27.00 per month and will increase to $29.00 per month or $87.00 per quarter. These figures must be added to the 1.45% dues owed.
- Example for “BA” member at $1500.00 per week salary:
- $1500.00 X 1.45% = $21.75 X 13 weeks = $282.75 dues plus $45.00 per capita = $327.75 p/qtr.
- Example for “A” member at $1500.00 per week salary “A” members pay per capita and also into pension fund:
- $1500.00 x 1.45% = $21.75 x 13 weeks = $282.75 dues plus $87.00 per capita = $369.75
The basic, minimum freelance rate will be $105.00 ($60.00 dues & $45.00 per capita) per quarter for “BA” members with an additional 1.45% due on earnings over $4200.00 per quarter. The “A” member freelance rate would be $147.00 ($60.00 dues & $87.00 per capita) per quarter with an additional 1.45% due on earnings over $4200.00 per quarter.
