Turn Down Proposal and Authorize Strike
The membership of IBEW Local 1212 at Telemundo's WNJU-TV channel 47 rejected, for the second time, a Company proposed one (1) year contract extension. This second rejection grants strike authorization.
This overwhelming rejection by the membership is a repudiation of the station management's deliberately deceptive contract interpretations that has led to the decimation of the technical staff at the station over the past two (2) years.
Located in Fort Lee, New Jersey, the station's dwindling coverage and treatment of the Hispanic community that WNJU is licensed to represent and inform are reflective of General Electric/NBCU's false promises of growth made to the Federal Communications Commission at the time of the purchase of the Spanish Language network.
